So You're Shopping on Shein...

Ciao Fashion Dolls, welcome back to Feminine PUNK, your favorite fashion blog.

This week we're talking about Shein. Now, if you don't know about Shein it's a website that is popular for women ages 12-22 and it's stocked with all the latest trends for an extremely cheap price. It's known for having great swimsuits, going-out tops, and accessories! Most of the time in the fashion world, websites like Shein are extremely frowned upon. With its not-so-nice materials and its wild patterns, it's not taken super seriously. Well, I'm a sucker for a good price and I'm here to let y'all in on all my tips and tricks when it comes to shopping on Shein so that you'll pay a good price for good quality.

#1 Know What You're Shopping For

Now, when I say this, I don't mean make a list like you would for a grocery store. What I mean is, lower the expectations. Remember that when it comes to shopping on Shein, it's not always going to look the way it does in the picture, or fit you the same way it fits the model. This is a tip that I use with all online shopping, especially Shein. Especially if you're rocking some voluptuous ta-ta's, like me, you need to remember that not all "hot-girl tops" are gonna fit your hot girls. This is Shein, not Saint Laurent.

#2 Look at the Reviews!

I cannot stress this enough. If you don't pay attention to any of my tips in this article, pay attention to this one. If you want to ensure that your product looks, or fits how it does in the photo, look at actual people. Go to the review section under the product you're interested in, and try to scroll through photos that are posted. Look at people who have a similar body type to yours, if you're buying clothing or bathing suits, and see what you think. I rely more on the photos than actual written reviews because everyone has different tastes and values, but if I can see what the product will look like when it ships to my door, I can form my own opinion.

#3 Price = Quality

On Shein, I've learned that the higher the price, usually means the higher the quality. Now, I know the whole point of going on Shein is to get a top for $2, but are you really gonna wear it if it's see-through or itchy? No. However, just because the prices can be bumped up to $8 or even $12, doesn't mean that's a bad deal! That is still a great deal for what you're getting! So if you have to splurge a couple of extra bucks for a bag or a top, trust me it's worth it because you'll actually use or wear it.

#4 Accessories = Jackpot

For me, most of my Shein shopping cart consists of jewelry, purses, and other trendy accessories. Since I'm in college and it's not uncommon that I'll go out to crowded parties or bars, I want to make sure that I don't lose or damage anything that's super valuable to me. So, I always try to get jewelry from Shein. I'm not worried about losing it or breaking it, jewelry really doesn't need to last forever, and it works until it doesn't. I've also found that you can get pretty good knock-off designer jewelry, some that will last a while! I've had some fake Cartier bracelets from Shein for almost a year and they're nowhere close to breaking. It's hard to find, but if you find one piece of jewelry that looks similar to a designer you're interested in, just look at the suggested and you'll find more and more of what you're looking for, rather than scrolling aimlessly through the pages.

I'm also a sucker for a good handbag. I do have a few designer purses, but again I don't want to damage or potentially lose them. I also don't want to sacrifice my look either. I know that if I take a handbag out and about, alcohol will get spilled on it. So if I'm taking out a handbag, it needs to be a cheap one. I've found plenty of bags on Shein that pair perfectly with my looks and that I'm not bothered about. I've got bags that range from $5 (with materials on the cheaper side) to $15 (with some longer-lasting materials) from Shein. It all depends on what's more important to you. For me, I don't mind carrying around a cheap bag until it falls apart because I'm not losing that much. I have an accessory that's trendy at the time and then I can just throw it away when the trend or the bag is done.

Again, if you find one bag you like and look through the suggestions, you will find some that are classic and are good quality but remember... know what you're shopping for.

Those are all my tips and tricks when it comes to shopping on Shein. Remember, Shein is not always bad and no one is judging you for having a couple of bargained items on. Shein is about dressing your best for less, but you gotta dig a little bit. If you use my tips and tricks, I can assure that you will be happy with your order, and not feel like you wasted your money.

That's all I have for this week fashion dolls!
